919 Wines is a family-owned, certified organic winery in South Australia's Riverland, at Glossop on the Sturt Highway, a five-minute drive from Berri. The region's warm, sunny climate is ideal for Mediterranean grape varieties, and the family's two Riverland vineyards are certified organic, giving wines of great purity of flavour; organic practices aim to protect soil, water and biodiversity and make the vines more resilient.
Grapes are picked when full flavour has developed and crushed without delay to keep fresh fruit character, then handled gently to make fresh, inviting table wines with true varietal character. 919 is also known for fortified wines, a rare skill: they are matured for many years and artfully blended into luxurious, complex styles, and the family has been laying down quality fortified stocks for years. The winery has previously held Sustainable Winegrowing certification and remains committed to sustainability, and it has been named among The Real Review's top wineries.
The cellar door opens five days a week, about two and a half hours from Adelaide and an hour and a half from Mildura.
