Winemakers Mark and Sophie McGill own and run Abel, situated on a 30-hectare farm in the Moutere Valley in Tasman, at the top of New Zealand's South Island. The vineyard planting took place in 2019.
The site includes five hectares of Chardonnay, totalling 21,000 vines planted close together. These vines grow in Ultic clay soils, which are also referred to as Moutere clay.
