Ada Wine Co. was launched in the Adelaide Hills in 2019 by James and Sherrie Ellis as a passion project focused on viticulture. Ada is short for Adelaide and was also the name of James's great-great-grandmother.
James worked as a viticulturist for Penfolds in the Barossa and in the Adelaide Hills and Hunter Valley before starting the label.
