Alkimi Wines was founded in the Yarra Valley in 2014 by winemaker Stuart Dudine, with a mission that raised eyebrows: to save grape varieties that were being pulled out and forgotten. Rhône varieties such as Marsanne, Viognier and Grenache were seen as the 'wrong' grapes for the region, but Stuart saw an opportunity.
He learned early that great wine is grown in the vineyard and guided with a light touch. His approach is calm and hands-on, working with the grapes as they are and adding nothing that isn't needed, for honest wines. Stuart now farms his own Marsanne vineyard at Mount Evelyn and also works as a senior winemaker for other wineries.
A trophy-winning winemaker, Stuart was named in the Young Gun of Wine Top 50 in 2025.
