Aphelion Wine is a family-run McLaren Vale producer of delicious, acclaimed, low-intervention wines, handcrafted in small batches. It is best known for Grenache and Mourvèdre, with single-site Grenache releases eagerly awaited each year.
The flagship Affinity Grenache Mourvèdre blends single-vineyard Grenache from the Romano family's vineyard in the Seaview subdistrict with Mourvèdre from the Lacey family's single vineyard at Willunga South. The parcels are fermented and aged separately, with some stems in the Grenache and a cold soak for the Mourvèdre, giving a savoury, spicy and complex wine that is more than the sum of its parts. Aphelion also sources from the certified organic and biodynamic Yangarra vineyard near Kangarilla, the source of its textural, spice-laced Callow Grenache Blanc.
The winery works closely with grower families across McLaren Vale, and its cellar door hosts tastings and seasonal events.
