Armstrong Wines is the creation of Tony Royal, a former Seppelt Great Western winemaker, former chief executive of Seguin Moreau Australia and former chief executive and joint owner of Portavin Integrated Wine Services.
The Armstrong Vineyards at Great Western in the Grampians were planted by Stan and Tony Royal, with the first 2 hectares of Shiraz in 1989 and another 4.7 hectares in 1995-96. Low yields of 5 to 6 tonnes per hectare mean the wines are made in limited quantities.
