Barratt

Barratt Wines is a pioneer of Adelaide Hills winemaking, making Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Gamay from some of the region's oldest and most sought-after vineyards. It began in 1990, when a friend told physician Lindsay Barratt about a vineyard for sale in the Piccadilly Valley, and he and his wife Carolyn bought one of the region's original vineyards.

The Uley Vineyard was planted to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in 1983 by the Leith family, only four seasons after Brian Croser planted the first vines in the area in 1979, and a year after the neighbouring Ashton Hills. At first Lindsay kept practising medicine, employing a vineyard manager and having the wines made elsewhere, until in 2002 he completed a Graduate Diploma in Oenology at the University of Adelaide's Waite Campus.

Barratt wines are sold by fine wine retailers and restaurants in Australia and overseas, and the 2022 Uley Chardonnay scored 95 points.
