Bekkers

Bekkers Wine is made in McLaren Vale by respected viticulturist Toby Bekkers and his French-born wife, winemaker Emmanuelle, who met at one of McLaren Vale's oldest wineries when she was a young French winemaker and he a newly graduated viticulturist. They have lived, worked and raised a family among the region's vineyards.

In July 2020 they bought the 50-acre Clarendon Vineyard Estate, the once-famous Peake and Gillard site, first planted between 1842 and 1848 on a very steep hillside above the township of Clarendon, in the coolest, highest corner of McLaren Vale. Edward John Peake expanded it to more than 60 acres between 1853 and 1882, but it had been abandoned and unpruned for nearly ten years when the Bekkers took it on, and they have poured themselves into its rejuvenation.

The small family winery's wines, including the Clarendon Syrah, have a devoted following worldwide, and its tasting room is on Seaview Road.
