Bell Hill

Bell Hill was established in 1997 by Marcel Giesen and Sherwyn Veldhuizen on a former limestone quarry in the Weka Pass, North Canterbury. It grows only Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, on limestone soils and calcareous clays.

The vines are trained low and planted very densely in the Burgundian way, at 9,090 to 18,181 vines per hectare. The vineyard is farmed organically and biodynamically and gained BioGro organic certification in 2015. Labels include Bell Hill, Old Weka Pass Road, and single-parcel wines such as Limeworks and Shelf.
