bicknellfc is a small Yarra Valley label created in 2011 by winemaker David Bicknell and Nicky, a vineyard manager, who studied winemaking together at Roseworthy, graduating in 1993. Dave made wine at De Bortoli and later Oakridge, finishing as chief winemaker there in 2026; Oakridge was named Australia's top winery by the Halliday Wine Companion and The Real Review in 2023.
The label began when viticulturist Ray Guerin offered fruit from the cool, high Bastard Hill vineyard at Gladysdale. From 2014 they leased Val Stewart's small neighbouring vineyard for ten years, making Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
After wines from the Yarra Valley and Gippsland, bicknellfc was named Best New Winery in the 2016 Halliday Wine Awards. Recent releases include a Coldstream Syrah.
