Biscay Road

Biscay Road is a family vineyard on the edge of Tanunda and Bethany in the Barossa Valley, worked by the Hickinbotham family for four generations. In 1936 Alan Robb Hickinbotham established Australia's first university winemaking course, at Roseworthy Agricultural College, and his great-grandson Alan Hickinbotham is now owner and custodian.

Since 1971 the family has grown grapes for leading winemakers, including for Penfolds Grange, Eileen Hardy and Clarendon Hills. The Biscay Road vineyard, planted in 1981, covers 64 acres of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache and Mataro on rare cracking Biscay clay.

The family makes its own wines with winemaker Dan Graham and offers tastings in the vineyard.
