Clayfield Wines is a small boutique winery in the Grampians of western Victoria, specialising in limited quantities of award-winning premium Grampians Shiraz. It was established in 1999 by winemaker Simon Clayfield to showcase the elegant flavours and subtle differences of vineyards across the region; the first vintages were made from Shiraz supplied by local growers.
Simon studied at Roseworthy Agricultural College from 1981 after six years in the workforce, gaining vintage experience at Rouge Homme in Coonawarra in 1985. He advises anyone considering a wine career to study and gain experience with the right people.
The cellar door welcomes lovers of generous Grampians Shiraz, preferably by appointment.
