Dr. Plonk is a small McLaren Vale producer of boutique red wines, all from its home vineyard. Its winemaker began in 2004 at the Redheads Studio in McLaren Vale, among a collective of like-minded makers led by Alpha Box & Dice founder Justin Lane and La Curio winemaker Adam Hooper, where the first 'Good Doctor's Tonic' was bottled.
The vineyard was bought in 2009. Raised on a wheat and sheep farm, the owner manages it on organic principles, without synthetic herbicides or pesticides, and with help from viticulturist Richard Leask has greatly improved soil health and biological activity.
The wines reflect the terroir of the vineyard, which Dr. Plonk tends daily.
