ECK Wines

ECK Wines is the small, handcrafted label of winemaker and farmer Emily, a former Collins Street lawyer who grew up in inner-eastern Melbourne. In 2017 she traded the city for a little Shiraz vineyard in central Heathcote, on the northern banks of Lake Eppalock, which she farms organically and largely by hand.

In 2019 she left the law and began her first vintage as assistant winemaker at Hanging Rock Winery, and she has also worked five weeks in the Northern Rhône with a small family winery near Tain-l'Hermitage, making wines from Cornas, Saint-Joseph and Crozes-Hermitage.

In October 2024 she took over a five-acre high-density site in the Macedon Ranges, with Pinot Noir and Gewürztraminer planted in 1987 at 800 metres in narrow rows half a metre apart. The cellar door is at Knowsley.
