Elanto Vineyard is a high-density Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyard at Balnarring on the Mornington Peninsula. Winemaker Sandro Mosele and Tony Todaro met at a French wine tasting in Melbourne in 2017 and began talking about the future of Australian wine.
In 2018 they found a property with a cool south-easterly aspect and volcanic soil, and soon met French soil scientist Claude Bourguignon, whose survey shaped the design. The vineyard was planted in 2019 and gave its first crop in 2023.
A rammed-earth chicory kiln from about 1910 at the entrance, a relic of Victoria's chicory trade, features in the logo and names the Kilnside block.
