False Cape Wines is a family vineyard on Kangaroo Island's Dudley Peninsula, named after a nearby coastal landmark. It was established in 1999 by Jamie and Julie Helyar with Julie's family, the Folletts of Lake Breeze Wines in Langhorne Creek, bringing together third-generation grape growers and third-generation island sheep farmers.
Covering more than 70 acres, it is the largest vineyard on Kangaroo Island, grown as naturally and organically as possible. Julie's brother Greg Follett, a Roseworthy graduate who worked vintages in Australia, California and France, makes the wines, while the Riesling, first made in 2018, is crafted by Nick Walker of O'Leary Walker in Clare.
The cellar door is open daily for tastings and lunch, and is a top attraction on the Dudley Peninsula.
