Gallagher Wines is a family-owned winery at Jeir, near Murrumbateman in the Canberra District, run by Greg Gallagher and his daughter Lauren. Greg graduated in wine science in 1977 after working at wineries in Sydney, Mildura, the Barossa and Coonawarra, then worked in Rutherglen, central Victoria and Champagne. The family planted the vineyard in 1995.
Lauren, born during vintage in 1983, followed her father to work from an early age and returned to wine after ten years in the public service. Greg and Lauren also make wine and consult for more than twelve other wineries in the region.
Greg's late wife Libby, who died in January 2023, was the family cheesemaker; she learnt the craft at Charles Sturt University in 2002. The cellar door offers guided tastings with the winemakers, alongside cheeses and pickles.
