Garbin Estate is a family winery in Middle Swan, in the Swan Valley, founded by Croatian migrants Duje and Matija Garbin. Duje sailed from Naples aboard the Otranto in 1937 to join his brother Marin in Western Australia's market gardens, and in the early 1950s bought his first property at Millendon, growing grapes and fruit trees on 13 acres. He and Matija later bought the 5-acre block where Garbin Estate stands today.
Their son Peter worked as a design draftsman for more than 30 years before returning to the family business as winemaker, teaching himself the craft and continuing the family's history of more than 65 years. He runs the winery with his wife Katrina and sons Joel and Adam, with a philosophy of hands-on premium winemaking and personal service.
The cellar door is relaxed, charming and spacious, with an outdoor area for warmer days.
