Goundrey

Goundrey is a Western Australian wine label whose vineyards lie in the state's south-west corner, in the vast Great Southern region. Stretching more than 200 kilometres along the coast and 100 kilometres inland, the region ranges from the maritime subregions of Albany and Denmark to the more continental Mount Barker, Porongurup and Frankland River, and its diverse climates suit Cabernet, Shiraz, Riesling and Chardonnay. Goundrey's range includes reds with rich, deep flavours and vibrant whites with a crisp, racy edge.

Goundrey is now part of the same family of Western Australian wines as Brookland Valley and Houghton. The wines are made under senior winemaker Courtney, who trained in viticulture and oenology at Curtin University, worked in vineyards in the Perth Hills, Swan Valley, Margaret River and Hunter Valley, and joined Houghton in 2004, delivering 20 vintages before becoming senior winemaker for Houghton in 2020. She leads the team making the Houghton, Brookland Valley, Goundrey, Amberley and Moondah Brook ranges, has judged at many wine shows and was a Len Evans Tutorial scholar in 2011.
