Jeanneret Wines

Jeanneret Wines was established in 1992 by the Jeanneret family, who were led heart first into the Clare Valley's vineyards; a passion for making wine for their own enjoyment grew into a livelihood, and the cellar door opened in October 1994. The family's ancestor is the architect and artist Le Corbusier (Charles Jeanneret), who popularised the Golden Ratio in the 1920s, and the winery pays homage to his philosophy of balance, form and function, with labels based on his perfect proportions and harmonious colours.

Self-taught winemaker Ben Jeanneret is regarded as one of the Clare Valley's leading winemakers; he was named one of Halliday's Ten Dark Horses, earning Jeanneret five-star winery status. The range comes in three tiers, Deco, Purist and Le Corbusier, and the philosophy is simply to make the best possible wines, without cutting corners, using techniques such as skin contact and time on lees for texture, and with a mischievous sense of fun.

The family's two vineyards in the Armagh Valley of north-western Clare are run with an organic philosophy, and for more than three decades their 60 acres of low-yielding vines on clay and sandy loam have grown Shiraz, Cabernet and Malbec. Long-term growers in the southern Clare, at Leasingham, Auburn and Schobers, add depth and sophistication.
