Jeir Creek is an estate winery at Murrumbateman in the Canberra District, on a 40-acre property with about 8 acres under vine and views stretching to the Brindabella Ranges. In its early years it sold grapes to larger wine companies and operated as a processing plant for many local vineyards, before expanding its own range of varieties and wines.
The current owners arrived in Canberra from Singapore one day before the borders closed in 2020, keen to return to their Indian family's agricultural roots and to be closer to family, and fell in love with Jeir Creek on their first visit.
They are working towards organic practices, with cover crops instead of herbicides, composted grape marc and recycled green waste. The cellar door and working winery welcome visitors, who can picnic among the vines.
