John Kosovich Wines

John Kosovich Wines is a boutique, family-owned winery in the Swan Valley, established in 1922. Ivan Kosovich arrived in Western Australia in 1911 from the seaside village of Zaostrog in Croatia with his brothers Mate and Nikola. After years cutting timber in the South West and working in the Kalgoorlie gold mines, Ivan bought the property in 1922, and some of the vines planted that year still grow at the winery entrance.

The Swan Valley vineyards grow Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Verdelho, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, while a second vineyard in cooler Pemberton grows Chardonnay, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir on gravelly loam. All wines are made and bottled on site from hand-picked estate fruit. The Rare Muscat, with an average age of 20 years, scored 97 points and was named in The Australian's Top 100 Wines of 2025, and the Chenin Blanc is built for long cellaring.

The winery blends old and new: visitors reach the below-ground cellar door past barrels of ageing liqueurs and reds.
