Kalleske

The Kalleske family has farmed and grown grapes near the village of Greenock in the Barossa Valley since 1853, and is one of the region's leading grape-growing families. After six generations of growing, seventh-generation winemaker Troy Kalleske, with his brother Tony, began making wine under the family name, with the first release in 2004.

Their parents John and Lorraine and brother Kym manage the 120-acre vineyard; John has tended it for more than forty years. It is planted to Shiraz, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Semillon, Chenin Blanc, Mataro, Petit Verdot, Durif, Viognier, Tempranillo and Zinfandel, and is farmed organically and biodynamically. All Kalleske wines are estate grown and made with minimal intervention to capture the vineyard. The flagship is the Johann Georg Shiraz, from a single vineyard planted in 1875.

The cellar door in Greenock has private tasting areas and a garden where visitors can enjoy regional produce platters.
