Kilgour Wines was founded in 1989 and is one of the pioneering wineries of the Bellarine Peninsula near Geelong. Owner Anne Timms planted the first vines that year and became a leader of the Geelong food and wine scene, establishing the original Kilgour Estate winery in 1990 and a restaurant in 1996.
The independent, family-owned winery makes maritime-climate wines from its 25-acre vineyard, combining modern and traditional techniques. Anne runs the vineyard and cellar door with her family, and her son Alister, head winemaker at Shadowfax, makes the Kilgour wines.
The cellar door on McAdams Lane opens on Saturdays and public holiday weekends for tastings and platters.
