Lyons Will Estate is a family winery on a 70-acre property at the foot of the Cobaw Ranges in Lancefield, Macedon Ranges, 554 metres above sea level. Oliver (Ollie) and Renata bought what was then a small vineyard and home in summer 2013 after a long search.
Ollie, born in London and raised across the Americas and Africa before his family settled in Western Australia, studied viticulture while working in advertising and learned winemaking over three vintages with mentor Shaun Crinion of Dappled. Renata, a physiotherapist and daughter of an Italian migrant, makes the wines with him.
The five hectares of vines include Chardonnay and Riesling, all tended by hand with an emphasis on sustainability; the estate is a member of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia. The cellar door opens Friday to Sunday.
