Mahi started in 2001 when founders Brian and Nicola Bicknell fulfilled a dream. The operation bought a historic winery, which had produced Cellier Le Brun wines since 1984, and upgraded the site. The first vintage in this new home was released in 2007 in Marlborough, New Zealand.
The label creates regional and single-vineyard wines designed to show the character of Marlborough. Production methods feature hand-harvesting fruit whenever possible, fermenting with wild yeasts, and using gentle, minimal-intervention techniques so each vineyard expresses itself naturally. The produced wine varieties consist of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, and Gewurztraminer.
