Martins Hill Wines is a small organic vineyard at Apple Tree Flat near Mudgee. Janette Kenworthy and Michael Sweeney bought the land on the Castlereagh Highway, renamed it Martins Hill and planted the first vines in 1985.
They lived in the small workers' cottage while building a home of sandstone and river rock and developing the organic vineyard, and were active in the local community. Mudgee wine pioneer Gilbert Wahlquist wrote about them in his book Some of My Best Friends Are Winemakers.
Janette worked the vineyard for almost 30 years until her death in December 2012.
