McHenry Hohnen Vintners

McHenry Hohnen is a family estate in the southern Margaret River, whose wines are grown exclusively on three distinct vineyards: Hazel's Vineyard and Farm, Calgardup Brook Vineyard and Burnside Vineyard. Hazel's, the southernmost site and the heart of the estate, is certified biodynamic and benefits from a northerly aspect, ample sunshine and the cooling influence of the nearby Southern Ocean.

Founder and owner Murray McHenry has championed a progressive approach to viticulture for decades. The vineyards are farmed with the aim of being ecologically sound, economically viable and socially responsible, and biodynamics nurtures the vines, the soil and the life around them, on the belief that a truly healthy vineyard hums with life. In the winery, the team takes a thoughtful, low-intervention approach so that each wine honours its vineyard.

The foundations are Chardonnay and the classic Bordeaux varieties, but McHenry Hohnen also explores the region's potential for Marsanne, Roussanne, Grenache, Mataro and Zinfandel. The range spans single-vineyard wines, the McHenry Hohnen range and Rocky Road, and the relaxed cellar door offers guided tastings of the biodynamically farmed single-vineyard wines.
