Meadowbank Estate

Meadowbank is a pioneering vineyard in southern Tasmania. Gerald Ellis began planting vines on his sheep farm in 1976, when conventional wisdom said grapes could not be grown in the cold wilderness of southern Tasmania. Through farming intuition and a little luck, Meadowbank became a Tasmanian pioneer and an iconic vineyard.

Today Gerald's daughter Mardi Ellis is its custodian, with her parents Gerald and Sue, and celebrated winemaker Peter Dredge makes the wines. The family's guiding principles are stewardship, family and fun.

Meadowbank is a working farm, vineyard and family home without a conventional cellar door, but visits can be arranged by appointment.
