Shane and Jane Goninon left Melbourne's corporate sector to establish Mountainside Wines, a family-run winery and vineyard. Positioned at the foot of Mount Cole within the south-eastern section of the Grampians wine district, the enterprise was planted in 1998.
The site includes nearly seven acres of Shiraz, two and a half acres of Viognier, and one acre of Nebbiolo. Operating on granite loam sitting atop red clay, the area experiences warm days, chilly nights, and an extended growing season. The single-vineyard operation yields roughly 1,000 cases annually, utilizing hand-tended and hand-harvested vines.
