Nannup Ridge Estate

Nannup Ridge Estate is a family vineyard in Western Australia's Blackwood Valley, near Nannup. In the early 1900s, cattle from the coastal plains near Busselton were allowed to roam the higher forest country in summer, and were always found on the sweet grasses of the granite escarpment here, inland from the Blackwood River. The original dirt-floor settlers' cottage still stands, restored by the Fitzgerald family, who bought the property from descendants of the settling families in 1998.

The first vines were planted in 1998, with more in 2000 and 2006, for a 16-hectare vineyard of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The elevated, north-easterly site, well-matched soils and winemaking by Bruce Dukes have brought more than 200 awards since 2008, including 10 trophies and 27 gold medals.

Nannup Ridge is especially known for its Cabernet Sauvignon.
