Orlando

Orlando is one of the great pioneering names of Australian wine, founded by the Gramp family in the Barossa Valley and a household name through the wine boom of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Orlando was originally the name of a vineyard at Rowland Flat, which Gustav Gramp received from his father as a wedding present when he married Johanna Koch.

Orlando introduced Australia to a revolutionary method of table wine production using controlled fermentation, and its Steingarten Eden Valley Riesling was the first of its kind in Australia, setting the benchmark for cool-climate Riesling for 50 years. Since records began in 1980, Orlando wines have won more than 1,000 trophies and gold medals.

The philosophy is to make exemplary regional wines that tell a story of place and tradition, using innovative techniques while honouring the land. Today's range draws on South Australia's best regions: Centenary Hill, Printz Shed and Cellar 13 from the Barossa, Lawson's Shiraz from the original J Block at Padthaway (made only in exceptional years), Jacaranda Ridge Cabernet from Coonawarra, and Hilary and Lyndale Chardonnay from the Adelaide Hills.
