Patina

Patina is a small, family-owned wine estate on the volcanic slopes of Mount Canobolas near Orange, New South Wales, at about 900 metres. It was created in the late 1990s by Gerald Naef, who grew up surrounded by the vineyards and wineries of Gallo and Robert Mondavi in Lodi, California. His family moved to Australia in the early 1980s and settled in Orange in the mid-1990s, buying the Lucknow site that became the Patina vineyard.

Patina aims to blend science and technology with age-old tradition, making complex, elegant cool-climate wines. Owner and vigneron Rod Shields takes particular pride in the Chardonnay, believing that nothing beats experience and vine age for quality.

The Patina Wine Club offers pre-release and museum wines and invitations to winemaker dinners.
