RedHeads Wine was founded in 2002 by the Laithwaite family, who saw the potential of South Australian wine in the 1990s. Now based in the Barossa, it makes premium small-batch wines with distinct personalities, working with more than 20 grape varieties and keeping every parcel separate through the winemaking.
RedHeads has an eight-hectare estate vineyard and close links with a community of growers across South Australia. Its purpose-built eco winery is certified organic by NASAA, the wines are vegan-friendly, and the business won the Drinks Business Green Award for Water Management in 2019, with a commendation for power management in 2020.
Winemaker Darren came to wine after 15 years as a hotel manager in Australia, the UK and the US, and grew up in the Hunter Valley.
