Peter Inglese established Riverstone Estate Wines, having moved to the Yarra Valley from Italy as a child in 1950. Property along the Yarra River was purchased in 1976, and a ten-hectare vineyard was planted there in December 1996. Wine production and a restaurant at Bluestone Estate started in 1999. Following Peter Inglese's retirement in 2020, William Zhou, an entrepreneur, took over leadership of the winery.
Fruit for the wines comes from the estate's vineyard located in Coldstream, a cool climate area.
