Silos Estate is a working vineyard near Berry on the New South Wales South Coast, between the mountains and the sea. John Wiley established the property in 1870, and it was a dairy farm for many years; since 1984 successive owners have restored the buildings, planted the vineyard and opened the cellar door and restaurant.
About 12 acres of unirrigated vines grow Chardonnay, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. The Wileys Creek label, launched in 2007, brings in fruit from other regions, and by 2010 the estate had become self-sufficient in energy.
The restored dairy buildings house the cellar door, a restaurant, an art gallery and award-winning accommodation.
