Taylors

Taylors Wines was founded in 1969, when Bill Taylor Sr and his sons Bill and John bought a 178-hectare property of terra rossa soil beside the Wakefield River at Auburn, at the southern end of the Clare Valley. Family legend has it they first set foot on the site on the day Neil Armstrong walked on the moon, and seahorse fossils found while digging the vineyard dam became the winery's emblem.

Still family owned, the business is now led by third-generation Mitchell Taylor, and the family describes 'respect the fruit' as its guiding principle. Taylors is best known for Clare Valley Riesling, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, released in tiers from the everyday Estate range to the St Andrews and Visionary labels and a Family Flagship collection launched in 2025. Outside Australia its wines are sold under the Wakefield name.

Taylors was a founding member of Australia's First Families of Wine in 2009, was ranked among the top five wineries in the world by the World Association of Wine Writers and Journalists from 2013 to 2015, and was named the world's most awarded winery by the World Ranking of Wines & Spirits in 2017.
