The Thief? is one of the labels of winemaker Natasha 'Tash' Mooney, who has been making wine since 1992 across the Hunter Valley, Mildura, the Adelaide Hills and the Barossa, as well as Oregon, Chile and South Africa. Since 2007 she has also consulted to boutique producers including The Lane, Sidewood Estate and Mount Adam.
Tash spent much of her childhood with her grandparents in the Barossa, and it was the culture of wine regions and their people, more than the wine itself, that drew her in. In 2016 she bought a 10-hectare vineyard at Greenock, first planted in the 1990s and divided into four blocks matched to their soils, mostly planted to Shiraz, which is the source of her single-vineyard wines.
