Tollana grew out of Tolley, Scott & Tolley, a South Australian wine and spirits business founded in 1888 by Douglas and Ernst Tolley and Thomas Scott. The Tollana name was created when the company moved from brandy into table wine, based at Nuriootpa with fruit mainly from the Eden Valley.
In the late 1960s and early 1970s it developed the Woodbury vineyard in High Eden, then reported as Australia's largest contoured vineyard. Winemakers included Wolf Blass, John Glaetzer and Pat Tocaciu, and wines such as Bin TR16 Shiraz and TR222 Cabernet became well known.
Penfolds bought Tollana in 1987, and it passed to Treasury Wine Estates, which in 2026 sold the brand to Sword Distribution to revive it.
