Ulithorne

Ulithorne is a boutique McLaren Vale winery built around a 30-acre vineyard first planted in 1950 by Bob Whiting. Its hilly, terraced rows look out to the sea and border the Onkaparinga River National Park. The vineyard was named after the first Irish Catholic priest in Australia.

In 1997 Rose Kentish and her husband Sam Harrison leased and then bought the vineyard, steadily and sustainably growing their holdings, and built Ulithorne into an iconic South Australian brand. It is now in the care of CW Wines, with winemaker Ben Wurst making Shiraz, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and rosé that reflect the site.

The winemaking respects traditional techniques, aiming for a balance of fruit intensity, structure and finesse. Ulithorne does not currently have a cellar door.
