Watkins is a family wine brand from Langhorne Creek, South Australia, part of the family-owned Watkins Wine Group with four brands. The Watkins family has more than 25 years in wine: winemaker Sam Watkins grew up around the vineyards his parents planted in the 1990s and studied winemaking at the University of Adelaide from 17, becoming the family's first winemaker.
Sam is head winemaker at the largest winery in the Adelaide Hills and has looked after that site for 17 years. He holds the WSET Level 4 Diploma, has worked as a sommelier at Penfolds Magill Estate restaurant, and has volunteered with the Langhorne Creek wine region for nine years.
Watkins is a certified member of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, with organic practices in its vineyards. The cellar door is at Chandlers Hill.
