Whitebox began as a family vineyard project to make wines from the Yarra Valley and Heathcote. Its name comes from the rare White Box eucalypt trees situated around the winery location at the base of the Mount Camel Range. A project funded by the winery resulted in this surrounding area becoming a White Box conservation site, featuring tagged and numbered trees alongside an active regeneration program.
The Stuart Wines Company produces Whitebox wines. The winemaking team features Peter Wilson, with over twenty years of Yarra Valley winemaking experience and seven years at Whitebox Heathcote, and Ben Osborne, who has spent five years on the team. Co-owner Jeff Fenech is recognised for his outspoken passion for the wine. The current wine range features Whitebox Yarra Valley Chardonnay, Whitebox Yarra Valley Pinot Noir, and Whitebox Heathcote Shiraz.
