Wimbaliri Wines

Wimbaliri is a small, family-run vineyard and winery near Murrumbateman in the Canberra District, making distinctive cool-climate wines. The first vines were planted in 1988, and with later additions the vineyard averages almost 30 years of age. It is close-planted to Shiraz, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc and Viognier.

Winemaker Scott is a sixth-generation descendant of German vinedressers who came to the Hunter Valley in 1855 to work for Dr Henry Carmichael at Porphyry Estate, one of Australia's first vineyards; The Vinedresser wine honours ancestor Johann Zeininger. Sarah Gledhill brings a science background to the vineyard and winery, with an honours degree in plant biochemistry from the University of Canterbury and a PhD from the Australian National University, and tends a block planted in 2016.
