A crisp, aromatic white grape from Spain's Atlantic coast.
History
Albariño is grown in Rías Baixas in Galicia and in Portugal's Vinho Verde region, where it is called Alvarinho. It is known for its freshness and saline character.
Albariño in Australia
Albariño's Australian story is unusual: many vines imported as Albariño turned out, in 2009, to be Savagnin. True Albariño has since been planted in regions including the Adelaide Hills and Victoria.
Tasting notes
Light-bodied with high acidity. Expect lemon, lime, grapefruit and white peach with a saline, mineral finish.
