A deep-coloured Tuscan grape traditionally used to add colour to Chianti.
History
Colorino, as its name suggests, was grown in Tuscany mainly to add colour to Sangiovese-based wines, especially when using the traditional governo method.
Colorino in Australia
Colorino is very rare in Australia, used by a few producers in Italian-style blends.
Tasting notes
Deep in colour with firm tannins. Expect black cherry and plum with herbal and earthy notes.
