Balancing Heart

Balancing Heart is a vineyard and winery at Wyberba, near Ballandean, on Queensland's Granite Belt, one of Australia's most elevated wine regions. Owners Greg and Lee-Anne Kentish bought the property in July 2020, after years of visiting it when it was known as Balancing Rock.

Winemaker Mike Hayes brings more than 40 years of experience and was named 2017 Australian Winemaker of the Year, still the only Queenslander to win the award. The wines grow from granite soils formed over 250 million years, and the team balances the art and science of winemaking, with sparkling wines such as the Blanc de Blanc among its more adventurous releases. Sustainability and reduced chemical use are central to how the vineyard is farmed.

Balancing Heart was named the 2027 Halliday Dark Horse Winery of the Year, the first Queensland winery to win a major Halliday award. Visitors can enjoy lunch on the deck, vineyard tours and Mike's weekly wine masterclasses.
