Cherry Tree Hill

Cherry Tree Hill is a family vineyard in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, one of Australia's newest cool-climate wine regions. The Lorentz family has owned the property for more than 30 years, and in 2000 Gabi Lorentz, following a lifelong passion, decided to make his own fine boutique wines on the estate. His son David manages the vineyard and oversees the whole business, from growing and harvesting to bottling and selling, and vigneron Ian Evans, who lives on the property, is regarded as the best in the Southern Highlands.

Cabernet Sauvignon and Riesling were planted first in 2000, followed by Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay in 2001, with grapes produced since 2003. More recently 5.5 hectares were restructured by grafting Pinot Noir onto Merlot and Cabernet roots, with the ambition of making some of the country's best Pinot Noir and traditional-method sparkling wine.

The aim is award-winning boutique wines at affordable prices. The Riesling, the rising star of the range, consistently earns gold ratings from leading critics, and other wines have won medals at the Sydney Royal Wine Show, Sydney Boutique Wine Awards, London International Wine Show and Singapore Wine Challenge. The cellar door on the Hume Highway at Sutton Forest opens daily.
