Elbourne Wines

Elbourne Wines is a small family estate in the Hunter Valley with just 4 acres of Chardonnay and 4 acres of Shiraz, now about 35 years old, making around 200 cases of each flagship wine a year, matured in new and old French oak. The Shiraz is named 'H.A.E.' after the owners' son Hugo, and the Chardonnay 'The Grace' after their youngest child.

The wines are made by acclaimed Hunter winemaker Nick Paterson, who learned from legends including Murray Tyrrell, Len Evans and Iain Riggs, worked at Brokenwood and Tyrrell's, and was the 2012 Hunter Valley Rising Star. The 2012 Chardonnay scored 95 points and the 2011 Shiraz 96 from James Halliday, and Elbourne was named a five-star winery and one of the Top 10 New Wineries in the 2018 Halliday Wine Companion.

Each summer family, friends and members join a hand-picking day and long lunch, and the family is building soil carbon using chickens, ducks and geese. Accommodation is available at The Residence.
