Handpicked Wines sets out to celebrate the diversity of Australia's great wine regions through careful vineyard selection and winemaking. Rather than focusing on one region, it owns and sources from sites chosen for what they do best.
Its vineyards include Watunga Road in the Koonunga area at the northern end of the Barossa Valley floor, acquired in 2014, with red-brown loam over clay; the Capella Vineyard near Western Port on the Mornington Peninsula, a small, ultra-premium site of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay under strong maritime influence; and vineyards in Tasmania's Tamar Valley, including the Auburn Road Vineyard at Kayena. Its ranges include single-vineyard wines that express each of these sites.
Handpicked is a certified member of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia for all its vineyards and its winery, and its Auburn Road Vineyard is also certified organic by NASAA, reflecting a minimal-intervention approach.
