Horner Wines is a small family winery in Pokolbin, in the Hunter Valley, run by winemaker Ash Horner and his wife and business partner Lauren. Born and raised in the upper Hunter, Ash grew up among wineries and vineyards, and his family instilled a love of the land from an early age.
Ash launched the Horner label in 2013 through Naked Wines, where it built a strong following. He now welcomes visitors to his own cellar door, which is also the couple's home, and is known for explaining wine plainly, without the snobbery.
Ash and Lauren are planting their own first vineyard on the property, and visitors can taste among the barrels with the people who make the wines.
